session information

Jennifer Skinner and FamilySessions are usually one hour in length. I make sure to provide time to connect with your children before we begin shooting and will keep the session lively and engaging for them. I follow your child's cues and the rhythm of your family to create photographs that are natural and personal. Upon arrival I will evaluate the specific lighting conditions and determine best locations for our photos.

Proofs:
You will receive a set of both color & BW proofs via an online gallery for review within 10 days of our session. You will have 10 days to review your proofs before placing your order. I am happy to meet with you to help you with your decisions. You may request proof sheets if needed to help with your decision process.

Tips:

  • Choose a time of day when your child is at his/her best.
  • Please make sure your child is well rested and fed.
  • Some children respond better when a parent is present. In other cases, best results are achieved when one-on-one with a child. We can discuss the best approach for you.
  • If your child is old enough to understand, let them know ahead of time that I am a mommy too and that we are going to take pictures together and have fun!
  • If you have any of your own ideas you'd like to share with me or incorporate, please feel free to share them.

What to wear:
Solid color clothing with simple collars and without logos or busy patterns is best. This will allow your child's expressions to be the focus of our photographs. Make sure clothes are comfortable so your child (and you!) will be relaxed. Bare shoulders and bare feet are great!

In a group photo, it's good to have some relationship between what you are all wearing, but you don't need to all match. Color and texture can make portraits interesting--- as long as they all work together. Wear colors that complement one another and flatter you and your family.

Be sure to try clothes on beforehand. If we are on location, you may want to bring a hairbrush. I'm happy to discuss wardrobe choices personally with you.

I look forward to working with you and your family!
